Surprise National Artist To Be Announced

Make your plans now for the 2010 God and Country Festival on Wednesday, June 30 at the Idaho Center. We are excited to have a national Mystery Artist who can’t be announced contractually until May. Let’s just say that they are experiencing nationwide success with hit songs that have made it onto the soundtracks of blockbuster movies.

We have a special theme this year: honoring our nation’s WW II Veterans!

Plus, in addition to the Mystery Artist, we can announce that national artist Meredeth Andrews will be performing at the event, as well as Treasure Valley’s own Music Minister’s Band. All of these bands and more will also be performing at this year’s free concert. The fireworks show is the largest in the Treasure Valley, and is choreographed with patriotic and inspirational music celebrating, among other things, our freedom to assemble, and our God who endowed us with those freedoms.

  • 8:00 – Grand celebration, including a salute to our military and their families, presentation of the colors, national anthem, awards & more, plus our National Mystery Artist.

Pentagon nixes flyover because of focus on Christianity

July 3, 2009 in 2009

flyover-petition.jpg

The Pentagon decided to turn down our request for a military flyover to honor our veterans at the 43rd Annual Treasure Valley God and Country Festival that took place on July 1, 2009, even though we have had numerous flyovers in the past. We want to make it clear that although it is unashamedly a Christian event, a huge part of the Festival has always been honoring our troops who protect our freedom to assemble.

Here are some facts:

  • Since 2006, our website has provided an In Memoriam link to honor our military veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
  • The 43 year old Festival has obtained military flyovers for many years.
  • Each year, the anthems of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines are played, and those who have served our country in each branch are honored.
  • In 2008, Mark Schultz, an artist who is popular on Armed Forces Radio for his CD entitled “Letters From War,” headlined the event with a moving tribute to military families.

Don Brandt Awarded Faith Family and Freedom Award at 2007 God and Country Festival

June 28, 2007 in 2007, Press Releases

Nampa, Idaho – The 40Th Anniversary of the God & Country Family Festival drew a huge crowd somewhere around 10,000 to hear four great musical groups and see a surprised Don Brandt accept the “Faith Family and Freedom” award. Brandt is a Nampa native who is active, usually behind the scenes, in many Treasure Valley organizations; Don has been active in the Salvation Army Food Drive each year, the NNU Foundation board, Boise Rescue Mission, and was the finance and fundraising chairman for the recent Louis Palau Treasure Valley Festival.

The award was named after the first recipient valley businessman, Loren Ellis and given to an individual who espouses the attributes as they work in the community to bring faith and patriotism to other’s lives. Loren was one of the inspirational business of our community who helped keep the God & Country Festival alive and worked tirelessly for the event until his untimely passing in 1999.

Many sponsors and event goers helped support this volunteer effort to keep God and Country alive in the Treasure Valley through donations before and at the event.

On behalf of the God and Country Association and our president Don Wixom and the City of Nampa thank you for your support and attendance and we’ll see you the Wednesday before the 4th of July – July 2, 2008.

Forty years of God and Country

June 1, 2007 in 2007

ImageThis year is the 40th anniversary of the Treasure Valley God and Country Festival. From humble roots, this event has grown from a local affair to a regional gathering to express love of God, country, and our fellow man.

On June 27th at the Idaho Center, we will welcome the following star musical talent to the Idaho Center for a night of uplifting contemporary Christian music:

The Roman Road

June 29, 2006 in Misc.

Romans 1:20-21 – “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 6:1-4 – What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 10:9-10 – “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:13 – “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

2005 God & Country Family Festival Features SonicFlood

June 7, 2005 in 2005, Press Releases

Nampa, Idaho – The Treasure Valley God & Country Family Festival Committee announced the Dove award winning gospel music artists SONICFLOOD will be the special guests at the annual Treasure Valley God & Country event to honor all Military and Veterans with special emphasis on those personnel and their families currently serving in the military.

The 38th annual event will provide many activities including featuring many of the individual ministries and services, which help the families of the Treasure Valley. Mayor Tom Dale will present the Annual Public Servant Award to a public employee for exemplary service to the community.

SONICFLOOD, a Christian worship band will be featured as the 2005 musical guest with a special free concert. They have just release their latest CD, This Generation, a follow-up to 2003’s Cry Holy; This Generation sees SONICFLOOD entering a new season that includes welcoming new players, a season that front-man Rick Heil hopes will lead people to a definitive understanding that God’s heart is truly good. It sounds obvious. After all, we learn about God’s goodness from our earliest days in Sunday school.

Mike Locknane Chairman of this year’s event said, “This event continues to grow and has become a genuine showcase for various ministries in the valley to present themselves to the God & Country audience as we continue to honor those serving our community through military service and positions in public service.” Sponsors have provided funding so we can continue to offer this event FREE of any admission charge.

The rally will again be held at the Idaho Center Amphitheater on Can-Ada Road in Nampa for the Wednesday, June 29, 2005 event (always the Wednesday before the 4th of July). Family activities begin at 6:00 PM, special presentations, speakers and public acknowledgments at 8:00 PM, and the full musical presentation beginning after the special presentations with the Treasure Valley’s best fireworks completing the evening at approximately 10:15 PM.
